A brush fire destroyed about 24,000 square-feet at Kahekili Highway and Makaala Drive in Wailuku.
It happened around 2:40 p.m. Saturday.
The fire was called under control just after 3:15 p.m. and extinguished at 6 p.m.
No injuries or damages were reported and the cause of the fire was undetermined.
The road was closed between Makaala Drive and Waiehu Beach Road before 3 p.m. and reopened to one lane at 5:40 p.m.
The road was completely opened to two-way traffic at 6 p.m.
About 40 students got sick and 25 of them, along with two adults, were taken to the hospital. Officials are now taking a look at what they ate for lunch.
