Two kids managed to escape after their house caught fire Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out shortly after 2 p.m. on Winant Street in Kalihi.
Upon arrival, Honolulu Fire Department crews saw smoke coming from the rear of the home.
Officials say the fire started in an outside cooking area and spread to the home.
"There's a lot of houses that are really close to each other, but for the most part, it was really good that the fire department was able to put a quick stop on it, utilizing their compressed foam air system," HFD Capt. Carlton Yamada said.
No injuries were reported.
The fire caused $50,000 in damage. The American Red Cross is assisting the family who lives there.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
