Fans camping days in advance for Bruno Mars tickets

Tickets for Bruno Mars' second show in Honolulu don't go on sale until Saturday

HONOLULU (KHON2) - Tickets for Bruno Mars' second show in Honolulu don't go on sale until Saturday, June 16, at 10 a.m., but people are already camping out at Aloha Stadium for the Nov. 11 show.

Last week, Bruno Mars fans were told buying tickets online was the best option, but that didn't stop dozens from camping out, and most of them ended up getting tickets for the first show.

Leona Ahlo is number one in line this time around, she got in line at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 12. She said she had over 16 devices going in her home when tickets went on sale last Saturday. She says she was able to get two tickets, but wanted to secure four for her entire family.

"I just felt so anxious, I told my husband let's just suffer and camp it out and make a family event out of it," she said.

Last week, many people gave up with buying tickets online and bought tickets at the stadium until 12:10 p.m. People online say tickets were said to be sold out around 11:30 a.m.

"People that came to the stadium and didn't stand in line, they just took a chance and drove down here and they secured tickets," Ahlo added.

Stadium officials are reminding campers that even though they are first in line today, they might not be first in line on Friday when the gates open.

"It's not an official stadium line," says Samantha Spain, Aloha Stadium sales and marketing specialist. "Just because you're first in line out there doesn't mean you will be first in line here."

Spain added that last week there were 500 people in line. "We did have to turn people away, so there is no guarantee. If we have thousands of people that show up, you still do not have a guarantee."

Campers, like Ahlo, are already making friends with fellow campers and say they hope everyone can show aloha when the gates open Friday morning.

The gates will open at 7:45 a.m. Friday, June 15.

Similar to last weekend, only a maximum of four tickets can be purchased per person, per transaction.

Entry to the gate inside Aloha Stadium to camp out will close at midnight on Friday and will open again at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 16.

Campers were near the sidewalk and fairgrounds as of 3 p.m. Wednesday. The stadium is reminding campers that police can tell them to leave at anytime since they are camping on City and County property.
