Board of Water Supply crews continue to repair an 8-inch water main break at 525 Keolu Drive in the Kailua area.
The main break was reported to the BWS shortly before 1:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Water service has been restored to most customers, including Kaelepulu Elementary School. Approximately 35 residential customers remain without water at this time.
Two water wagons are available to provide an alternative water source for affected customers.
Repair crews will be working on the Kailua-bound side of Keolu Drive between Akea Place and Akiohala Street. One lane of traffic will be open in both directions.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area, use alternate travel routes where possible, and to exercise caution if driving through the work area.
BWS crews are working to expedite repair and expect to have water fully restored to all customers sometime Wednesday afternoon.
About 40 students got sick and 25 of them, along with two adults, were taken to the hospital. Officials are now taking a look at what they ate for lunch.
