Honolulu Police say a body was found in waters off Kahaluu Beach Park Wednesday morning.
Friends of the victim say the man was found floating in the ocean about 100 yards off shore.
Honolulu Fire Department crews responded and retrieved the body.
The victim's identity has not been released.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Police have classified the case as a drowning.
The case remains under investigation.
The first runner to cross the finish line of the 2013 Honolulu Marathon was Gilbert Chepkwony who finished in 2:18:47.
