The Department of Water (DOW) has scheduled a water outage in the Wainiha area on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., weather permitting.
The shutdown will allow the DOW to complete a system transfer to its new water supply pump station.
During the outage, customers along parts of Kuhio Highway, Ananalu Road, Anahulu Road, Ala'eke Road and Wainiha Powerhouse Road will have no water service or low pressure.
A detailed map of all the affected streets can be viewed here.
Affected customers are advised to store enough water to meet their needs during the outage; notify family, friends and neighbors that may be affected by the outage; and exercise caution while driving through the area.
When the water main is turned back on, air may be mixed into the water causing it to appear white or milky in color. This is normal and the air in the water will eventually dissipate.
The DOW apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks the public for their patience and cooperation.
For more information please call the Department of Water at 245-5455 during business hours, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For emergencies after hours, call Police Dispatch at 241-1711.
