Nearly everyone enjoys a well cooked burger. But the sizzle on the grill - set Margie on fire.

A recall on May's beef patties had her concerned. About what she stocked behind these doors.

"You see all the meat product right there," said margie Pedrina, Byrons Drive Inn. "Well I had to make sure, that we don't have that product first thing in the morning I have to check."

A quick check and her patties were safe. And good thing. sixty-eight-thousand pounds of May's ground beef patties may have been contaminated with e-coli.

"It's not good, it's not good to hear that, especially locally," she said.

The local processor - Palama Meat company issued a mass recall.

"But they're doing everything they can, to make sure to make sure everything's safe, they're puling out," said Pedrina.

Stores like Costco acted fast. Within hours - all affected products were pulled off shelves statewide.

"Right here is where we have a pallet of the May's product that is affected by the code date," said Costco Waipio General manager, Tom Burba. "I have here anything produced between 4-9 and 4-21."

Still many boxes are coming in the door. Shoppers wanting to hand over their may's meat.

But not for a refund...these patties are too good to resist.

"This one is contaminated so we're just gonna get another one," said Costco shopper, Chantel Fonseca.

"I have all these hamburger buns and nothing to do with them so I've gotta buy some more hamburger," said Costco shopper, Henry Hoeft.

Popular enough - that restaurants don't expect the patties to sizzle out anytime soon.
