According to the Environment America's Research & Policy Center, Hawaii is ranked third in the nation for solar installations.
Hawaii is one of a dozen states that have led the nation in solar energy.
Last year, solar in Hawaii grew by 57 percent, bringing it to a total of 191 megawatts.
The report emphasizes the degree to which state and local governments have created effective public policy for the development of the solar industry.
