A fire broke out Friday morning at a Waikiki apartment on Namahana Street.
The eighth floor of the Regency Ala Wai apartment was engulfed in flames just after 8:30 a.m.
The nearest fire hydrant to the building was out of service, but Honolulu Fire Department officials say it did not impact firefighting abilities.
"It was under control within 12 minutes after arrival. For any high rise, that's pretty remarkable," HFD Capt. Terry Seelig said.
Officials say no one was home at the time.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
About 40 students got sick and 25 of them, along with two adults, were taken to the hospital. Officials are now taking a look at what they ate for lunch.
Honolulu police are investigating two armed robberies that may be connected.
An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death of an elderly man in Chinatown.
