Planning a wedding on a budget

It's a big day, with a price tag to match. Couples spend an average of $28,000 for their wedding. I talked with a wedding planner about creating a dream day on a budget.
"You just want the room to really pop. When people walk into the room, you want everyone to saw wow!", said Janna Heetland.
Who wouldn't be wowed? Exquisite hawaiian weddings planner Heetland designed four different looks. From this organic island vision to this sophisticated setting.
One of Heetland's suggestion, "We just went with kind of a nice gold table drape, didn't do a runner. Just left it pretty plain. Just did a few votive candles and just a nice centerpiece."
Sure, she's a pro, but janna says anyone can steal some of her secrets, even on a budget. That orchid centerpiece? Creatively embellished with red ti leaf from her garden.
"There's so many great things you can just pull off of all the different trees. There's flowers everywhere," said Heetland. "Makes it very hawaii."
These centerpieces are do it yourself- reeds glued to a glass cylinder. Add flowers and voila.
You can even find inspirations in dishware, in this case, mums.
"I suggest picking one particular type of flower and repeating it over and over again because that gives you a big impact without spending a ton of money," said Heetland.
From flowers to fabric. For janna, fabric gives you the most bang for your buck.
"You can get a nice bolt of fabric for about 400 dollars and you can really make that fabric go a long way."
That will cover table cloths, runners, and chair sashes for 50 people. She also suggests affordable accents like candle votives or renting to save money. To design a dream wedding, janna says start with the location, then decide on colors, and save pictures of things you like.
"You may not be able to afford doing something a certain way, but if we just change it a little bit, we can probably do something similar for a lot less money," said Heetland.
