Kauai Community College opened its Daniel K. Inouye Technology Center on Friday with a dedication and blessing ceremony.
The 18,000-square-foot building is home to the KCC's electronics program and houses the Hawaii Space Flight Laboratory, which serves as a satellite tracking and control facility for rocket launches from the Pacific Missile research facility.
Sen. Inouye was a big proponent for the facility.
"One of my father's biggest things was always the concept of each generation trying to make it such so that the next generation is able to have the resources and knowledge to help fulfill their fullest potential," said Inouye's son, Ken.
The electronics program has graduated 84 students and has 49 students currently enrolled.
