A Kaneohe couple is mourning the loss of their son.

Jason Arruda, 21, was found laying in the middle of the road, badly injured Sunday night.  He died the next day.

Police have launched a failure to render aid case.

Jason Arruda's parents say more could've been done to save their son.

"Parents are not supposed to be burying their kids," said Robert Arruda, Jason's father.

Robert and Judilyn Arruda just lost their son Jason.

"He suffered a massive head injury on his right side temple with big road rash on his shoulder and back," said Robert Arruda.

Jason was found laying in the middle of Kamehameha Highway just after 8 o'clock Sunday night, near Wailehua Road in Kahaluu.

Robert says he spoke with the driver of the pickup truck Jason had been riding in.

He says apparently the driver, the driver's girlfriend, Jason and his girlfriend went on a beer run.

"And in the process they fought, and my son Jason climbed out of the sliding window to get away from the girl. So I think he went out of the cab hands first body forward just to get away from her, and probably stood up when the truck was moving and the momentum will take you one way truck will go the other way. And when they got to the destination they realized the driver did that Jason was gone," said Robert Arruda.

Robert says Jason's girlfriend admitted she saw him get out of the truck.

"Maybe he would still be alive if they stop right away. I don't know it's, I can't believe it," said Robert Arruda.

Jason was taken to the hospital and passed away a few hours later.

He was only 21 years old.

"Him, just him in general. I know sometimes he irritates me but I'd like to see him irritate me one more time, just to see his face and tell him I love him," said Robert Arruda.

On top of this, Robert has been battling cancer for the past two years.

"You know I jump on his butt all the time about coming home late, and just the day before I got on him because he comes home late and sleeps all day, but these children don't realize we do love 'em. We just don't want 'em ending up something like this," said Robert Arruda.

No one has been arrested yet in the failure to render aid case.

Police are hoping other witnesses will come forward.

There should be 3 arrest, what's the hold up!! The girlfriend has been skankin around Kaneohe! She was suppose to have left the Island before this happened!

Unfortunately Jason Arruda died, may he be at peace and may God help his parents find some for themselves. But, these kids were all drinking, not thinking of their bad behavior and the driver was probably drunk. How big is this pickup truck anyway, that your back seat passenger can crawl out the back window and you don't realize it? Sad story, a life lost because everyone in that truck was so clueless.

3 arrests should be made because all were aware of the situation and all chose to ignore the man's injuries when they chose to leave him behind and conitnue on their way. 'Actions speak louder than words'.

XxX44XxX - This is our community...all of you "44" kids are our kids, we love you, nobody wants to see this happen again. You can't just say oh well this was just a stupid mistake....no...there are NO EXCUSES...you stand up for what is pono...integrity, responsibilty. It is possible to have a good time, to party and be a young adult....but you do the right thing...you do the safe thing and you make something great out of this life...don't put yourself and everybody else at risk. Excuses are lame.

PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY! Your an adult. Act like one. If you can't handle your booze, don't drink.

XxX44XxX - This isn't only about a "mistake." Failure to render aid is a crime, as are drinking and driving/DUI, etc. Right now those appear to be possibilities here.

If those involved knew that he was hurt, then they should have rendered aid. However, I don't support what the deceased did as a result of an argument. It was a dangerous move and there are consequences to your actions.

XxX44XxX - "people our age do stupid things" These stupid things like leaving your friend or boyfriend behind to die need to be punished. Otherwise, how many more of these "mistakes" are going to happen?

(cont.) ...around.but ANYONE could have made the mistake. So lets just stick to grieving for the victim and his family instead of looking for a wrong.
