The De Vanny family visited the Arizona Memorial on Monday, and as usual, Susan took lots of photos.

"I was flicking through the photos and seeing how many do I really need, and take some of the bad ones out and then I came across this particular photo," said Susan De Vanny.

The particular photo of the water over the wreckage, with oil shimmering, shows an image that looks like a face.  Susan wasn't quite sure what to make of it.

"I showed my husband and I didn't say anything, I said just have a look at the photo and he said oh my gosh it's a face, and then the kids saw it and they go oh wow."

1,177 sailors died aboard the USS Arizona during the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941.  Most of the bodies were never recovered.  The De Vanny family learned all this when they visited the memorial.  And after getting over the shock, Susan says perhaps the image is a message from beyond.

"It just looked really sad, really sad and young. The face, to me looked young, which I don't know if it represents the men at that time who perished."

The De Vanny family will spend a few more days in the islands and take a lot more pictures.  But probably nothing quite as memorable as this one.

"Definitely, it will certainly bring me back to Hawaii every time I look at it."

I say what ever makes you feel better or less guilty or not alone is acceptable. Believe what you will until proven otherwise, free will is a privelege not a sin. We are creatures of mysteries still unknown and nothing is impossible or unimaginable it's in our special nature to be creative in coping with life. Blessed is everyone to be able to have an opinion inspite of the facts. We all have our own belief systems to protect and explore. FREE WILL IS OUR GREATEST GIFT.

The face is saying, "Get off my chest!"

I also think that this is just random image of the oil smear on the surface of the water, causing an illusion to look like a ghostly face. I don't believe in ghosts or any of those kind of superstitions. I do respect the sailors who died abaord the ship on December 7th. However, I do not think that this image was a face of a ghost.

Get real people! It's a RANDOM image! It's not supernatural. In fact it's quite natural for for any liquid or naturally organically shifting substance to form what appears to be a face! My scramble eggs resembles all sorts of figures and or something that looks like a face, but you don't see me calling the newspaper for something like that. Geezuz...

Robert. The image is very life-like; I doubt if it could have been formed randomly.

Yes, the attack on Pearl Harbor was an undeniable tragedy, but GET REAL people! It's a random smear of oil on the water. With the hundreds of thousands of pictures taken at the site, one is bound to capture some random pattern that appears to our brains as a face. Our brains are wired from birth to detect faces. Enough with the superstition and irrational belief in the paranormal. There's no mystery here. Move on and stop being so gullible.

Well unfortunately, that shows that these poor souls haven't been able to go rest after their tragic death. With the boat still leaking after all of these years. It's too eerie on what is happening to the spirits of the Earth.

I now believe in seeing the camera catches the soul of a person.

If there is a crew photo of those who served on the USS ARIZONA, maybe that photo taken by the tourist can identify the person in that picture. It would bring meaning and closure to the family who never recieved the body for proper burial. It can be done.
