With 7% of Hawaii's labor force out of work, a job fair Wednesday in Kakaako attracted more than 5,300 people.
Over 100 employers set up booths at the Job Quest Job Fair at the Neal Blaisdell Center.
Government employers included the Transportation Safety Administration, the Census Bureau and the Honolulu Police Department.
"Another important thing that we noticed is that we had a huge rush of employers last week, right at the last minute and we think that means people are feeling positive about 2010," said Beth Busch with Success Advertising.
Job seekers can also log on to a virtual job fair that began after Wednesday's event ended.
