Soaps and lotions from Bath and Body Works can be found in many households in Hawaii.

But you won't find the store anywhere in the islands.

That's about to change.

Ala Moana shoppers are just giddy from the news. The first Bath and Body Works store in Hawaii will open in the Macy's Wing of the mall level in March 2011.

"I think it's really awesome, I used to go there all the time when I lived in Washington State," said shopper Kumi Tanaka.

"Wow, I wouldn't have to order online anymore, then," said shopper Marcia Izawa.

It's one of those stores that local women have to go to when they're visiting the mainland.

"It's just like cheap, the soap is really good, they always have sales on stuff so, it smells nice," said shopper Bailee Davis.

And when they bring stuff back, everybody wants some. So any time someone goes to the mainland, there's usually a friend or a relative putting in an order.

"Always, there's always orders. In fact I just got back from Vegas last week and I had orders," said shopper Nona Lawrence.

Hey, even men aren't ashamed to admit that they like to use the products.

"I think it's important. I get in the bathtub a lot myself. I think it's good," said shopper Winger Walker.

Ala Moana says Bath and Body Works is one of the most requested stores from shoppers, along with Nordstrom, which opened in March 2008, and Victoria's Secret, which opened in October last year.

Anticipating a strong demand, the company wants to make a big splash when it enters the Hawaii market.

"It is gonna be one of their largest stores and they have over 1,600 stores nationwide," said Kristin Kilburn with the Ala Moana Center.

So shoppers, just eight more months. But some probably can't hold out that long.

"Look, it's almost gone. I need to more, I need to go to California and get some," said shopper Chloe Kono.

I used to love Bath and Body Works. Now that it's here and any old person can go and buy something, it's just not special anymore.

I love BB&B. Maybe once here, they'll be charitable to Hawaii. You can't expect them to open their purse BEFORE they even set foot on the Island. And they make you smell nice, too!

Bath & Body Works does not plan to do any community support or charitable giving in Hawaii. They only plan to come in and profit from our residents. According to their parent company ALL of their charitable giving is limited to Ohio, New York & New Mexico. I would spend your money on locally made products, made in Hawaii products, and ones with safer ingredients. Note that the third ingredient in most bath and body works products is petrolatum (derived from petroleum)!
