McCain Accepts GOP Nomination for President

By KHON News

The two-week back-to-back political convention marathon has ended.

Today, John McCain formally accepted his party's presidential nomination on the final day of the Republican National Convention.

Delegates cheered and chanted "USA" as McCain walked to the podium.

During his speech, McCain acknowledged Barack Obama's achievements, but said he is more prepared to lead the country.

If elected, McCain would be the oldest person ever inaugurated for a first term president.

His running mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is the first woman to run for vice-president on the republican ticket.
