Obama Officially Accepts Democratic Presidential Nomination

By KHON News

Senator Barack Obama officially accepted the Democratic nomination for president today.

The throngs at Invesco Field cheered the Democratic Party's first black nominee.

It was nothing short of a rock star's welcome.

But Barack Obama's message was tailored for the millions watching on t.v.

"Tonight, I say to the American people, to Democrats and Republicans and Independents across this land, enough!” said Obama.

He called his republican rival by name and linked him to the past eight years of the Bush White House.

"The failure to respond is a direct result of a broken politics and the failed policies of George W. Bush," said Obama.

And after going over his modest upbringing, he took a shot at McCain’s celebrity upbringing.

"I don’t know what kind of lives John McCain thinks that celebrities lead, but this has been mine,” said Obama.

Former Vice President Al Gore reminded voters of his historically close 2000 race and railed on the last eight years of President Bush.

"But here we all are in 2008, and I doubt anyone would argue now that election didn't matter,” said Gore.

Supporters by the thousands packed in. this convention kicked off like a reality show of sorts – make a call for Obama.

"If you make 12 calls - you can win a seat right here on the floor of Mile High Stadium,” said an Obama spokesman.

The idea was to turn the enthusiasm of 75,000 supporters into votes.

The Obama campaign is reaching beyond the stadium tonight sending text messages again urging people to get involved hoping to get the momentum heading into the November 4th general election.
