It is a done deal.

After the longest presidential primary campaign in American history, the Democrats create another historic moment by nominating Barack Obama.

“With great pride I announce that Barack Obama is the democratic nominee for President of the United States,” said House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi.

Illinois Senator Barack Obama becomes the first black presidential nominee of a major party.

It was Hillary Clinton herself who moved to suspend the roll call vote and move the nomination along.

"Let's declare together in one voice right here, right now, that Barack Obama is our candidate and he will be our president,” said Hillary Clinton.

The spotlight has been on the Clintons since the convention began with Obama's chief rival now formally stepping out of the way.

Delegates voted aye to Barack Obama as their candidate.

Democrats hope it's the unity they've been looking for.

But one more Clinton speaks before Obama accepts the nomination – f ormer President Bill Clinton.

“I am here to first to support Barack Obama,” said Bill Clinton.

Vice Presidential Nominee Joe Biden closes out the night.

About 75,000 people and a list of surprise performers will jam into nearby Invesco Field to listen to Barack Obama officially accept the nomination.
