August 8th 2008 or 8-8-08 is one of the luckiest days according to chinese culture. And a lot of people around the world have planned weddings for that day.

When carol and mark got engaged they had no idea when to get married

"I was reading the newspaper and found out the olympics started on 8-8-08 I said hey there's a good day and its on a friday that nobody's getting married on a friday," said Mark Middleton.

But soon the couple found out otherwise. Planning a wedding on 8-8-08 wasn't going to be easy

"When we first started calling venues they told us that people had booked from two years prior to us there was no way we were gonna find any place," said Carol Honda, the Bride to be.

Then that problem was resolved and they were in full swing sticking to the "Lucky 8" theme.

"Well it's actually a lot of fun when you got something like 8 to work with I mean there's all kinds of possibilities," said Middleton.

"One of them is that everybody at the wedding is going to be sitting at table 8 but every table is going to be in a different language," said Middleton.

For instance the favors are 8 yokomoku cookies in a box. Each box of cookies will be favors placed on tables of 8. And at 8 o'clock, eight people will give a toast for one minute ending at 8:08 in the evening.

We're very excited they're a very good couple make a very good pair so we're all very excited," said Honda.

With more than 75 of their closest friends and family expected to share in their special day the happy couple is looking forward to tying the knot.

"8-8-08 plus it helps me remember when our anniversary is," said Middleton. "That's the real reason," laughs Honda.
