Soldiers Home for Mother's Day

By Tammy Mori

It's a Mother's Day these women won't forget.

About thirty soldiers from the Hawaii Army National Guard returned home today.

It's one of the best presents anyone could ask for... their loved ones are now home safe once again.

Soldiers from the 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team marched in one at a time..

It's the first time their family and friends have seen them in 6 months.

They were serving in the Phillippines as part of a special operations task force.

Providing security for humanitarian groups, medical support, and community outreach.

But before they were dismissed today...there was one more mission.

"Take this time to give your mothers, the mothers of your children..to give thanks for their support for you."

And that was an easy task..

"Overwhelms me, I'm happy," says Rozlyn Mansinon, a mother.

It's just being there that made everything okay for these moms, wives, and children.

"I feel relief very happy you know the feeling of a mother. I wake up in the middle of the night and think of hiim, all of them I should say. I keep praying for them and peace all over the world," says Latzia Pasion, a mother.

And today there will be peace in their hearts.

"Been gone for 6 months, been a long time, but we're glad to be home," says Spc. Francis Mansinon, with the Hawaii Army National Guard.

"Probably have dinner tonight with the family, mothers day," smiles Sgt. Lesley Pasion.

And those are the moments- these soldiers said they missed the most.

"Mom I love you , I love you mom," says Francis.

The soldiers will get to spend the summer with their families before they are mobilized in august for Afghanistan.

Until then, they said they are enjoying one day at a time.
