Police are investigating the origin of a human skull found in the sand off of Kualoa Beach Park.
A family was enjoying a day at the beach when they discovered what appeared to be a yellow ball.... after uncovering the object they found a human skull buried in the wet sand.
"Eye sockets and then I said you know what stay away and my wife took a picture and then I put a stick right next to it so we can find where it was," said founder of the skull Andres Advincula.
"We are just hoping that it works out for the best and that you know whoever's looking for someone that they have been missing for a while can have some closure in their life," said founder of the skull Maggie Advincula.
Beach goers and residents hoped the skull was possibly the remnants of Masumi Watanabe -- a Japanese visitor who went missing just over a year ago.
Police say an archeologists assistant was called to analyze the skull and preliminarily determined it was more than fifty years old.
Residents in the area say skeletal remains are uncovered often in this area.
It is known as an ancient burial location.
