Cashing in at Las Vegas Casinos

By Manolo Morales

Lavish accommodations, great meals, and some of the best shows in town, no charge! It can happen in Las Vegas if you put in the time in the casinos.

"This is my dad and my daughter. He's the one that got us started going together," said Kehau Parker, a Las Vegas regular.

For Kehau Parker trips to Vegas are family affairs. It usually takes just one phone call.

"So we call and tell them we're coming in and we need rooms, and if we bring our family we get them rooms too."

Her favorite places to play are the Fremont and the Golden Nugget. From the moment she and her group arrive in Las Vegas, they're taken by limousine to the hotel and immediately checked in to a suite. That's even on the busiest time of the year.

"Superbowl is very crowded up there so it's hard to get rooms, you know but our guy takes good care of us, beautiful room," said Parker.

Meals are all comped by the casino along with shows, even some of the hottest tickets in town like a big time fight.

"Mosely and De La Hoya, my mom and I went to that fight," said Parker.

Obviously the casinos want her to drop some cash, but the house even gives her some money up front.

"They give you free play money like if you come up they'll give you 500 dollars.">

Parker admits that they do play at a lot and they visit four to five times a year. They've won a few jackpots.

"I think this one is four thousand," said Parker.

And of course they've lost some too. But Parker says what also helps in getting comps from casinos is by building a friendship with the casino hosts. It's a relationship her dad started 30 years ago.

"You get to know your hosts, they get to know you, you take them goodies, things from Hawaii, they become your friends."

Yes, money is the main driving force here, but beyond all that, good relationships develop that help make the Vegas experience better.
