Neighbors saw a security guard screaming for help and hanging halfway off the 26th floor of a condominium.

When police arrived on scene, they arrested the suspect who they believe was trying to kill him.

Police arrested 42 year-old Joyce Joseph, who neighbors say was on a very bizarre rampage.

This is the man who police say was terrorizing residents on the penthouse level of the Ala Wai Condominium.

"There was somebody on the 26th floor with a fire extinguisher in his hand and he was hitting people with his fire extinguisher," says Pierre Jaffuel, a Neighbor.

Pierre Jaffuel says the man then came after him with the fire extinguisher.

"I told him to take it easy, take it easy I don't want him to hit me," says Jaffuel.

"Then he shot me right in the face, then right after that i was blind," he adds.

But what happened next...many neighbors witnessed..when the building's security guard came running upstairs to see what was going on

"He was pushing the security guard with the fire exttinguisher and he was getting hit and almost fell from the 26th floor," says Jaffuel.

"At about 5 oclock got a call that a man was screaming for help on the 26th floor of this condominium," says Lt. Art Kuroso, with the Honolulu Police Department.

Police do not know yet how the security guard broke free, but when they arrived...

"They saw a man running out of the building, they caught him about a block from here," states Kuroso.

That's when they arrested Joyce Joseph.

"I've lived 15 years in this building, never saw this man before. I hope they put that man where he belongs" says Jaffuel.

As for the security guard, he was taken to the Queens hospital in serious condition.

And neighbors thank him for stepping in before things got even worse.

"Definitely, very brave," says Elsa Wong, a neighbor.

"They say he is going to be okay, but I think he got hit pretty bad," says Jaffuel.

Joseph has not yet been charged.

This case is still under investigation.
