Canine mammary tumors
If your female dog hasn't been spayed by the time she reaches ten years old, canine mammary tumors are a danger. Toy and miniature poodles, spaniels, and German shepherds seem to be the most susceptible breeds.
Canine tumor treatment options
Just as in humans, a dog's tumor can be either malignant or benign. The first step should be to determine which it is. Benign tumors are those that don't spread to surrounding tissues.
Feline leukemia virus
Feline leukemia virus is one of the most dangerous infectious diseases affecting cats today. It's spread from cat to cat through tears, saliva, urine, or droppings.
Feline mammary tumors
Mammary cancer is the third most common cancer among cats. The average age at which a cat will become infected is ten to eleven years. About 90 percent of these cancers are malignant, although even benign tumors should be surgically removed immediately.
Limb salvage
Modern veterinary care has come a long way, and removing tumors from your pet's leg without amputation is one of the benefits of these advances. The process involves surgical removal of the tumor, along with part of the bone to which it's attached.
