An organized wardrobe can save you time when getting ready and help you avoid buying near- duplicates of items you already have. To get organized, start by going through your wardrobe and pulling out any pieces that you no longer wear or want. Colors that are unflattering to you or match little else that you have should probably go. What remains should be basic items that you can wear frequently, along with a few special occasion pieces. Next, organize all your clothes by type. Hang blouses or shirts together; dress pants in one area and jeans in another; put jackets and blazers in another section of the closet. If you like, you can further sort each section into summer and winter, or casual and dressy. Sweaters can be folded or hung, as long as they're together. If closet space allows, organize all your accessories in the same place, too. Being able to see clothing and accessories at the same time will make it easier to coordinate your outfits. Belts, ties, and jewelry can be hung for quick viewing and access. Shoes can go on a shoe tree, on shelves, or in the pockets of a plastic hanging bag. If the closet is too crowded, consider putting seasonal items in flat containers under the bed.
