Baby Supplies, Food Among Things Still Needed for Lokahi Families

Saturday's statewide Lokahi drive gave us a huge lift in our push to help thousands of struggling islanders .
But more is always needed to help Hawaii's families.
Mahalo to donors who gave so generously at our eight Lokahi drives this weekend.
Some shelves are overflowing, others are a little light.
As top Hawaii entertainers like Kapena played, Lokahi donors gave and gave.
"One man brought seven bicycles and helmets. They've brought food. Bath towels," said Lokahi volunteer, Meridith Petro.
Those basic needs of struggling Islanders- things like blankets, pillows, and rice cookers motivated Lokahi givers of all ages.
Lokahi donor, Valerie Smith, said, "Just to support all the families and have them a good Christmas and enjoy all that we're enjoying."
Thanks to donors who opened their hearts, our warehouse went from this... To this.
Many toys came in.
Other areas are still coming up short.
What's needed now are baby supplies, household goods, food and gift cards.
You can drop off gifts for children at Starbucks statewide.
Hawaii Self Storage accepts goods year-round.
And Central Pacific Bank has sleighs set up in all of its branches to accept donations through the holidays.
You can also make a cash donation to allow us to buy what's necessary to bridge the gap.
Mahalo Hawaii for your generosity.
If you haven't had a chance to drop off a gift, our website, khon2.com explains how and where you can make a donation.
