Thousands Support Lokahi at Drives Across the State

Today's not only a big day for the UH Warriors, it's also a big day for the Lokahi Giving Project.
There were eight Lokahi drives on four islands today.
And thanks to those of you who donated toys or cash, many of Hawaii's less fortunate keiki will have a joyous Christmas.
'Tis the season for caroling, and the season for giving.
At Ala Moana Center today, thousands turned out for the Lokahi Giving Project, including dozens of volunteers, and these two familiar faces.
"For those of you who don't know this is tannya joaquin. i'm joe moore, and we're here on behalf of Lokahi," said emcees Joe Moore and Tannya Joaquin.
Lokahi means unity -- pulling together to strengthen the community.
"I mainly wanted to help out to get the boy scouts involved in helping the community esp those who aren't as fortunate as us," said Lokahi volunteer Matthew Tom.
Whether it's large donors like Central Pacific Bank, which donated $10,000, or small donors, everything is greatly appreciated, and will go to a needy family in Hawaii this holiday season.
There was also a Lokahi drive at Windward Mall today, for the first time. KHON2 morning news anchor Kathy Muneno hosted today's Lokahi drive at Windward Mall.
"We'd like to welcome Windward Mall to our Lokahi drive," Muneno said.
Many folks took a break from the holiday shopping to enjoy the entertainment,
and to spread a little aloha, in the spirit of Christmas and Lokahi.
If you didn't get a chance to participate today, you can still drop off Lokahi donations here at our news station, or at branches of Central Pacific Bank, Starbucks, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, or Hawaii Self Storage.
