The Good Life Expo offers seniors an array of resources

By Kirk Matthews

For the past 24 years, seniors have been drawn to the Blaisdell Exhibition hall for the annual senior fair, the Good Life Expo.

"Principal emphasis at the event is health and wellness. Without that, you don't have much else. But there are many other themes - travel and liesure opportunities, financial planning and of course a lot of people are concerned about that any more," said Mike Rossell, from the Good Life Expo.

He's right - with the current economic situation, financial institutions will be fielding all kinds of questions from seniors. In the event this is the first time you are attending the senior fair, Mike Rossell says you can have confidence in the exhibitors.

"Well, we have a record-breaking 312, I believe, exhibitors in every imaginable category. We've screened them very carefully, they're all very high quality organizations that promote the well being of seniors across the board," said Rossell.

Public and private organizations will be well represented at the senior fair from the largest to the smallest. But Rossell emphasizes they have a wealth of information for the seniors - and again, during these uncertain times, financial institution exhibitors will have lots of visitors.

"They're very candid, and very forthcoming and very aware of what seniors need to know and want to know about their financial opportunities," said Rossell.

The senior fair is not all serious business, though.

"Lots of entertainment. Two big stages with continuous, very lively music and dance and instrumental," said Rossell.

And what does all this cost?

"Absolutely free. It's always been free admission. We welcome our senior audience with open arms and they've always turned out in huge numbers, about 25 thousand people," said Rossell.

The Good Life Expo runs from 8:30 to 4:30 Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
