The Honolulu Police Department temporarily closed major roads and freeways Thursday afternoon as President Obama visited Pearl Harbor.
For security reasons, specific routes and times were not be disclosed prior to his trip.
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama visited the USS Arizona Memorial at 5:26 p.m.
The Obamas paused for a moment of silence in the shrine room, where the names of 1,177 Arizona crew members who perished in the Dec. 7, 1941 attacks are inscribed.
The Obamas also dropped white and purple orchids into the sunken battleship.
The president did not make any statements at the memorial.
The First Family spent the day at Pyramid Rock Beach at Marine Corps Base Hawaii and got shave ice at Island Snow in Kailua.
