Maui County officials are advising Lahaina motorists and residents that there will be a change in direction for Luakini Street in order to address safety issues involving Maui Bus passengers.

The change will happen on Monday, December 19 at 10:15 a.m.

This change in direction means traffic will flow in the Ka`anapali to Olowalu direction rather than Olowalu to Ka`anapali.

Officials say this change affects Luakini between Prison and Dickenson streets only.

All traffic signage will reflect this change on December 19th.

Some parking spaces in the area will be rearranged to accommodate tight turning distances.

Maui police will be on hand for the direction change on December 19th in order to provide a smooth transition for the community.
