More than 50 Manoa residents were without water for most of the day after a water pipe broke on Lowery Avenue.
The usual quiet peacefulness of Manoa was broken in the early morning hours.
"This morning about a quarter to five there was a big boom, and suddenly the water about 5:00 the water was out. Somebody had turned it off,” said Butch Robinson, Manoa resident.
It was cut off by the Board of Water Supply so repairs could be made to the eight inch pipe.
Two water trucks were set up for residents.
"Well I needed to get some water to clean up this mess that was left by the trash people in front of my house,” said Carol Miyamoto, Manoa resident.
"You rely on water, until it's not there, then you scramble. But at least we've got the water truck,” said Butch Robinson.
You see this is nothing new for the folks who live on Kahawai Street.
"There was a four inch water main break in front of my neighbors house a couple of months ago, and there was just water all over the place,” said Miyamoto.
"Six months ago down there, about 11:30 in the morning a water main broke, and all the water came down here like a torrent. That lady over there, Mrs. Shine, the water was going in her house almost,” said Robinson.
This most recent break caused a little bit of a mess, but nothing the residents couldn't handle.
