This is an entry-level class. No experience required. Dress comfortably, all materials provided. Instructor: Michael Ching, Author, past SAM/IBM President Website: StreetMagicHawaii.Com Contact #: 836-1800 June 16 will begin Hawaii's first ever Magic class to include the newly popular entertainment art of Street Magic (David Blaine, Criss Angel), as a major part of the curriculum. Class will cover the basics of magic and differences of performing onstage, opposed to surrounded by an audience.
A Classically trained Magician since age 6, Mike Ching was fascinated by street magic in 1980 while seeing performances by "The Official Wizard of San Francisco", "Doctor" Harry Lovecraft. Ching went on to stay with the Lovecrafts' in a houseful of eccentric and talented "Street Artists". He discovered these were not beggars (per popular perception), but highly paid Las Vegas variety acts and "College circuit" performers, honing their acts on the Streets (the saying went: If you can hold a crowd on the street, you can hold them anywhere"). "These people had full acts that were truly great! Hawaii has really not seen this kind of act because there is no outdoor venue for them to work" Mike notes. Mike moved into the room being vacated by then-Juggler A. Whitney Brown, who went on to become Head Writer for SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. ("Whitney Brown with the Big Picture").

Out of college, his got much work in many elaborate outdoor Convention events during the boom years of the 1980s and 1990s. Mike has been President of the Hawaii S.A.M. (Society of American Magicians) and I.B.M. (International Brotherhood of Magicians), and Author of the acclaimed magic book "NEW ANIMATIONS" owned by top Magicians David Copperfield, Siegfried & Roy, "CYRIL", Lance Burton, and THE MAGIC CASTLE in Hollywood.
