The Waikiki Health Center is looking for more volunteers to help in its outreach program.

The Friendly Neighbors program helps seniors in need by providing basic assistance and companionship with support from volunteers.

Services are available, free of charge, for seniors who are 60 years or older and live in .Waikiki

The program’s clients live independently, outside of assisted living facilities, but need help to continue living on their own.

Some common tasks seniors benefit from include friendly visits, phone call reassurance, light housework, and help with shopping.

Volunteers are asked to spend at least one hour weekly with each senior, although additional support is appreciated.  Some volunteers spend more than one hour each week or assist more than one senior.

Contact Friendly Neighbors at (808) 926-8032.  Additional information and volunteer forms are available on Waikiki Health Center’s website at www.waikikihc.org/friendlyneighbors.
