Thousands of runners from around the world will be gathering on Oahu over the next few days...to participate in Sunday's Honolulu Marathon.
Businesses were busy today setting up their booths at the Marathon Expo at the Hawaii Convention Center.
The expo opens tomorrow.
So far about 21,500 runners are registered .. with about 13,000 from Japan.
"The Japanese runners spend about $315 a day. and lot is on activities and shopping," says Jerry Agrusa, HPU Professor.
"The yen is strong right now so we expect spending to go up from last year," says Jim Barahal, Honolulu Marathon Association President.
The marathon brings in an estimated $100 million dollars to our state annually.
