A new study released today says the rail transit program could bring in thousands of jobs.

Commissioned by the non-profit group Faith Action for Community Equity or "FACE."

The study shows that over 120,000 jobs may be created from the rail project in the next ten years.

"Those jobs are tied to the construction of the route, the development of the buildings and also to the businesses that are there," said FACE organizer Jun Yang.

FACE paid just $200 for the study, which was part of a larger study done of 24 metropolitan areas.

I didn't want steel on steel! So what's the point!

@Options: The public was given a choice. They chose steel-on-steel. If you didn't want steel-on-steel, you had the chance to vote against the ballot question back in '08! So don't complain now. Whether it creates 90,000 jobs or 120,000 jobs, let's get this project going for traffic relief and a better quality of life!

$200 paid for part of study which concludes that 120,000 rail jobs will be created over ten years. Gosh, you could have paid me a hundred dollars and I would have jacked up the numbers to 300,000 jobs. The difference? The method to determine the numbers is purely a guess. You may as well use a ouija board to come to a conclusion. Throw this study in the trash can along with the projected ridership numbers touted by the City!

Touche' Options! Just shove it down the voters throat! Come to the aloha state and ride the rail! In my opinion, having a rail system without looking at other options is outrageous and not in the best interest of everyone! When the rail is pau, what happens to the workers that are left to find other jobs? Steel on steel on an island surrounded by salt water" really smart! The Aloha stadium is a fine example of how rust and ruin cost big bucks to fix. "Sustainablility!" just a word for politians who want votes!

Any rail project, especially one that would reach UH-Manoa and parts of Waikiki would generate jobs. The Mayor made a decision at the top as to the type of rail design without adequately considering various other rail alternatives. The public was never given a choice as to the type of rail, light rail or heavy rail, all elevated or partially elevated. The public only voted on whether or not it would be steel-on-steel.
