Police issued 38 tickets on the first day of the city's ban on the use of cell phones and any other electronic devices while driving.

Drivers can get around the new law by using hands-free devices, such as bluetooth headsets.

If you break the law it will cost you $67 for the first offense.

Bus and taxi drivers are exempt if they are using a 2-way radio for work purposes, and so are drivers making 911 calls.
