Plans are underway to showcase Hawaii to the world during next year's APEC meeting in Honolulu.
A non-profit host committee consisting of business and government leaders has been formed to help plan the event, which will feature President Barack Obama as host.
Organizers are hoping to highlight all that Hawaii has to offer.
"So to the extent that we can promote the opportunity to get people from Honolulu into some of the other beautiful places within our state that's certainly endeavors that we're undertaking," said Peter Ho, APEC Hawaii Host Committee Chair.
The event in November of 2011 is scheduled to last a full week and could attract as many as 20,000 people.
Visitor spending alone is expected to top $30 million.
