A wind farm on Oahu's North Shore is receiving a big boost in federal funding.

First Wind has secured and signed off on a $117 million loan from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Construction on the Kahuku Project began earlier this month.

When it's completed, there will be twelve 2.5 megawatt wind turbines which will power up to 7,700 homes each year.

$117 Million. Does the company really have to pay it back or will it declare itself bankrupt years down the road?
