A dust problem in Nanakuli is not a health concern, but steps can be taken to mitigate the nuisance.

That's according to the results of a study the Department of Health presented to the community Tuesday night.
The study was undertaken after the community expressed concerns about dusty conditions surrounding a construction landfill and other factors in the area.

"PVT has been controversial and it's been a focus of much of this discussion but the study is showing us that the dusty conditions in the neighborhood are not PVT's alone," said Gary Gil of the State Health Department.

Other factors include commercial and industrial sources along Lualualei Road, also dry residential yards, and vehicles driving on gravel and dirt.
The report says air monitoring data provided by the PVT landfill shows no health threat.

Dust not so much an issue as the lolos throwing their trash around on the roads out there. Lots of 'ainokeas' out there sure.
