The governor announced Thursday she and members of her cabinet will take two furlough days per month beginning August 1.

Tuesday is the deadline for the governor to act on more than 30 bills that are on her potential veto list.

They include a measure that would add on fees for anyone who buys a gift certificate or gift card.

Also, a measure that would require milk cartons and containers to be labeled with the date of pasteurization or packaging.

And a bill that would require the governor to appoint Board of Education members from the candidates chosen by a BOE selection council.

The governor already vetoed two tax bills and a bill that would have required an audit of DPS contracts with mainland prisons.

Congratulations to Governor Lingle for her COMMON SENSE veto of the Civil Unions bill. EVERY Common Sense real married couple should contact all their mainland friends and let them know that Hawaii is still a safe place for families to come. No matter how many legislators, judges and marriage license offices allow homosexuals to marry or enter into "Civil Unions" with privileges spelled out that grant special and totally unwarranted tax breaks and other considerations to homosexual couples (by whatever name they choose to call it) that were put into place to assist real married male/female couples who are normally going to reproduce at least one or two children with the genetic heredity of the married man and hiw wife. It is incomprehensible how homosexuality can be compared to the Civil Rights movement of the 1950's to 1970's. People cannot choose who their parents are nor what the color of their skin nor other hereditary traits. But in well over twenty (20) years of taxicab driving, a good number of them wu=ith a company that employed homosexual dispatchers and catered to homosexual bars, I was solicited by many of them and virtually every one, no matter how vehemently he or she claimed to have been "born that way," it always turned out that they NEVER discovered it until recruited by a militant homosexual! In addition, until it became a political hot-button, both the medical and psychiatric professions had chapters in their manuals for treatment of the deviant behavior. Both removed that chapter when courts and politicians, NOT Medical or Scientific Research dictated the change. Let's sho the homosexual boycotters that we do better without their business.
