Furlough Wednesdays for State Libraries

Library users can add furlough Wednesday's to their calendar.

The board of education approved a plan to close all state libraries 15 days this fiscal year and 15 days the following year.

All library furloughs will fall on a Wednesday.

"By implementing furlough days that will give us an opportunity to realize payroll savings. We expect that we'll realize enough savings that we will not have to close our libraries, any libraries on a permanent or long term basis," says Richard Burns, State librarian.

The first furlough Wednesday for libraries is scheduled December 2nd.

Meanwhile two library fundraising campaigns have secured $180,000 dollars in donations.

Dates libraries will be closed is as follows:

December 2, 9, 16

January 13, 27

February 3, 10

March 3, 10, 17

April 7, 14, 21

May 5, 19
