The Waipio All-Stars continue their journey to the Little League World Series, however the costs of the trip continue to mount.

Governor Linda Lingle has asked the public to assist in offsetting some of the costs for the players and their families by making a monetary donation.

Tax deductible donations may be sent to the Hawai‘i Children’s Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.

All contributions will go to the Waipio team.

Checks should be made out to the Hawai‘i Children’s Foundation.

Please indicate on the check that the donation is for the Waipio All-Stars Little League Team.

First Hawaiian Bank will also contribute the first $5,000 to the fund.

What are the donations for? Expenses incurred before, during and after the trip? MMMM, Plan ahead with fundraisers. Get the ball rolling two years before the committment to win! Helps everyone not feel so guilty if they can't give anything to this team.

Its quite courageous of lingle, during her remaining days, to ask the public for monetary donations for the Waipio LL team. Granted, they've performed heroically as young men on a team effort and I applaud their performance despite the final loss. However, I'm having a very hard time just paying my mortgage and monthly living expenses after losing my job and being under-employed for the past 2 years. I'm sure there's many others out there like me and to give money right now would leave me short for the month. Good going Waipio LL but the parents should have seen this coming and organized fundraisers all along before the trip.

Conrats to our kids of the Waipio Little League program! OK this is great, but lets make donations easy. The easier we make it for people to donate, the more people donate. Lets face it, we all procrastinate a little bit--and some more than others. That's why I would offer that we create a way for donations to be made online from the comforts of home or work. By creating this online method, we can virally spread the word via social networking (Facebook, Twitter, Etc). If someone with ties to the organization can setup a business Paypal.com account (free) or Qgiv.com (setup fee) then we can encourage more to give and help these families who have given selflessly so that their children may live their dreams. I will be more than happy to assist if someone from the organization would contact me (iven@sugaiholdings.com). Go Waipio!
