Democratic congresswoman Mazie Hirono is hoping to secure her third term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Hirono filed her candidacy papers Thursday morning to run for re-election to the second congressional district.
"I'm running for reelection because I want continue to lend my voice and my vote to help the people in my district," Hirono said.
Hirono is currently the only democrat to file nomination papers.
Former television news reporter, Ramsay Wharton and Antonio Gimbernat of Maui are among those who will seek the GOP nomination this September.
