Hospital Emergency Departments are reporting that many people who do not have acute medical problems are arriving at hospitals to seek shelter from the approaching tsunami.  Hospital resources are not sufficient to accommodate those looking for shelter.  The influx of people is straining resources to care for people having medical emergencies.

Residents are encouraged to evacuate to safe locations outside of the tsunami inundation zone, such as the home of a relative or friend or a designated tsunami evacuation area.  Only residents with acute medical problems should go to hospital Emergency Departments.

Roadblocks

Oahu residents are advised that all Oahu tsunami evacuation roadblocks and access to evacuation zones will be completely closed at 2:00 a.m.

this morning.

No vehicular traffic will be allowed in.  All evacuation travel must be completed by that time.

City Employees

All City Non-Disaster Response or Relief Employees are given administrative leave and should NOT report to work.

City Offices

City offices such as satellite city halls and permit offices will be closed.

Refuse Collection

All refuse collection will be suspended and will resume when conditions permit.  In addition all transfer stations and convenience centers will also be closed.
