Neil Abercrombie also had harsh words for his democratic challenger in the governor’s race.He says Mufi Hannemann is walking away from his responsibilities at the city level.
"I didn't pretend that I wasn't running and try to use an office like the mayor did to actually compete for another office,” said Abercrombie. "The former mayor is leaving the city in the worst financial position of any city I can imagine."
Whichever candidate wins the democratic primary will likely face Lieutenant Governor Duke Aiona in the November general election.
Because his tenure is ending, he does not have to resign from office to run.
