House committee to look at possible challenges on drug testing proposal

Two measures before the Hawaii Legislature Thursday will propose drug testing applicants and recipients of public assistance.

But before either bill is scheduled for a hearing, the House Committee on Human Services will ask legal, social service and public safety experts about challenges that could arise if drug tests are used to determine eligibility for cash assistance.

What is the big deal with drug testing? If your gonna recieve free assistance from the tax payers, get drug tested. Why does it have to go thru the House?
