A year and a half ago the masked men barged into a Pearl City town house and attacked three people.

In this month's cold case file we highlight the tragic death of Brendan Caires.

"I still have the notches, it was all on the ridge over here," says Honey Ho, Caires' girlfriend.

Close to two years have passed...and Honey Ho still has the scars and bad memories of the night she was attacked and her high school sweetheart murdered.I still remember everything that happened, over and over it replays," says Ho, Home Invasion victim.

October 27 2008 around 1am... Honey Ho, her boyfriend Brendan Caires and another friend were hanging out in the back patio of this Pearl City town home when two masked men carrying a knife and gun barged in demanding money.

"One of the males with the hand gun struck Caires' girlfriend on the side of the head Caires charged the other male holding a knife," says Honolulu Police Sgt Kim Buffett.

After a struggle the two men ran away leaving Brendan Caires with stabs wounds to his chest...he later died at the hospital.

"He was so loving so giving," says Ho.

"He was a really good father, a really good friend," says Ho.

No one has been arrested since the tragic night and police say they are still looking for clues.

"I may not be afraid but my children are," says Ho.

Brendan and Honey had two beautiful girls together, now 4 and 10 years-old Brendan's daughters still miss their Dad and hope for answers.

"They'd really like to see somebody I would like to see somebody who's responsible," says Ho.

Ho says she is confident they didn't know the men...police say they believe this was a random act.

"We are looking for anyone who has any information or know who did this, at the time the men wore masks so we have no description of them," says Sgt. Buffett.

Witnesses say they saw the two men run away in opposite directions.

"Theres windows on every town house over there, I mean I am sure somebody seen something," says Ho.
