As Christmas gets closer, more families are seeking help from Lokahi ... like this next family.

Both Mom and Dad work, but recent health problems have made it difficult to provide their children with simple necessities.

Family of five just barely stays afloat, even though Mom and Dad both work full-time.

Mom works at an agency that provides mentors for children of incarcerated parents. a caseworker describes her as "dedicated to the families she serves."

Dad, who is full of love and laughs, needed surgery earlier this year to remove kidney stones. He was in the hospital and out of work for four days... and for a family living paycheck to paycheck, this loss of income, plus the costs of health care, was a significant financial setback for them

Dad was sick again last month and had to miss another four days of work. as a result, the family could not afford childcare for their two-year-old son.

In spite of the financial distress this family lives in, they don't receive any state or federal assistance.

If you'd like to make the holidays a little brighter.... here is their wishlist: all family members could use clothes. the 2-year old would also love an educational toy, bike, slippers or pull-ups. The 5-year old boy enjoys art, and would appreciate any art supplies. the 25-year old daughter, would love slippers or hair products. Mom and Dad are requesting the basics such as toilet paper, bath soap, toothpaste, and towels.
