Today's Lokahi family consists of a single mom and her four children, ages 13 through 18. Mom has been raising the kids on her own for the past 10 years since dad passed away from a medical condition.
Mom is the sole breadwinner for the family, and even working fulltime, struggles to make ends meet.
She says there is always another unforeseen expenses waiting around the corner.
When interviewed, the children say they want to go to college, be successful, and to contribute to the family to “help out their mom."
The children all attend public school but one of the boys was selected to attend Punahou's summer school program.
He was selected because of his good grades and good attitude.
The boy says he loves Punahou and works hard so he can return each summer.
For Christmas, the kids would love clothes, shoes or sports equipment.
While the boys love all sports, football is their favorite.
They’re all huge UH Warrior football fans.
The only daughter, whose 15, loves bags, makeup and anything hello kitty.
Mom didn't ask for anything for herself, but after some persuading, she admitted she could use work clothes, a new purse, or a gift card for food.
