As many of us know, raising a family in Hawaii can be a struggle financially with many of Hawaii’s families needing two incomes to make ends meet.
For a single mom only able to find part-time work, providing for a family of four can seem impossible.
Mom is caring for her three sons, ages 7, 9, and 10. She works part-time as a substitute custodian at their school. She wishes she could find full-time employment but says it's been difficult to find a job that is compatible with her children's school schedule ... and she can't afford childcare.
Her income is small. She does the best she can ... but struggles to pay her bills every month.
Mom has been divorced for three years and her ex-husband isn't involved in the children's lives and doesn't pay child support.
Mom felt her sons needed a positive male role model and enrolled her sons in a mentoring program. Her case worker says "it is evident that she is invested in the well being of her sons and exhaustively does the best she can to take care of them."
We can also help this family have a brighter Christmas, here is their wishlist.
The 7-year old loves cars, trucks or anything batman and spiderman. The 9-year old would appreciate legos or a model airplane kit.
The 10 year old would be thrilled with a fishing pole, art supplies or cards.
Mom isn't asking for anything for herself but says the family could use towels, bedding or pots.
